America is crumbling. Let the record show
That we are violently aware; this is Obvious.
The clear and present failure we claim is in our stars--
We know it's the price of stardom. Yeah, it's not who we are.
And you know that we throw almost everything away.
Can you believe...slave labor goods going to waste?
We just want things to be perfect...at any cost.
No, we will not talk about it--
Because it's Obvious.
We all saw something coming. We're surrounded by the clues.
But, we are sure the only way to win is to make someone lose.
Power makes you Hunger. It's just one more disease.
We all know our gods are crazy; we all know they have done as they please.
But we can agree: some earthlings are powerful and cruel.
We all seem to see how perversely they've turned out every rule.
They have always made it obvious. In fact, it's their only tool.
'Cause only every thing that's Obvious
Can be hidden from the fool.
Now, everyone here is starving—just inside our souls.
Our Prime cannot deliver what has value but cannot be sold.
Yet everyone thinks they're working to fix it in their way.
Nobody's hijacking any planes...they hijack our outrage.
And now that we're free to face our neighbor with a gun,
Maybe we'll see what our Dream has been like for everyone.
Except most of us won't notice,
Because it's Obvious.
